What Is Amazon Prime?
Amazon Prime is the paid membership service by Amazon that offers members benefits like free one-day shipping, access to Amazon Fresh, Prime Video and Music, and other benefits.
Amazon Prime is very Popular
Since it was launched in 2005, Amazon Prime has been hugely popular. It is no surprise that Amazon Prime membership in the United States has grown from about 50 million users in 2015 to over 112 million in 2019.
According to a recent survey by Survey Monkey, 94% of the people surveyed had heard of Amazon Prime and 70% had used the service before.
What are the reasons for Amazon Prime’s popularity? Perhaps, it’s because, with its fast 1-day shipping, Amazon Prime members find the service convenient and order everything they can on Amazon.
But that is not the entire story.
In addition to the fast one-day shipping that Amazon Prime members get, there are other perks and benefits that people members have come to love, including access to Amazon Fresh, discounts at Whole Foods, free access to Amazon Video, Music, Photos, exclusive deals on Amazon Prime day and more.
We will now review in detail the perks and benefits of Amazon Prime membership.
Benefits and Perks of Amazon Prime Membership
Here are the reasons why Amazon Prime is so popular:
Free Two-Day, One-Day, Same Day and Two-Hour Delivery
Amazon Prime’s oldest and probably most famous benefit is free 2-day shipping for Prime items, which is now reduced to one day.
In addition, you can get free same-day delivery.
However, Free same-day delivery doesn’t apply everywhere. You have to live in one of the more than 10,000 eligible cities and towns and counting. To check whether your ZIP code is eligible for Free same-day delivery, click here.
Amazon’s Prime Now, which is a service offered to Amazon Prime members delivers goods to Prime members for free within two hours.
The service is currently in 93 select markets and growing, including Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Virginia Beach and central New Jersey.
Free two-hour delivery includes grocery orders from Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon, in select cities.
Can’t wait two hours? You can get the goods delivered for free in an hour in some areas.
Prime Pantry is an Amazon Prime perk where members shop for non-bulk groceries and household products.
Amazon Prime members get free delivery on orders of $35 or more. Orders under $35 pay a flat $5.99 shipping fee. If you are not a prime member, you will pay $5.99 for shipping each time you order.
Extra Discounts at Whole Foods
Your Amazon Prime membership gives you special discounts at Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon.

In addition, you get an entire library of movies and televisions series that you can stream for free as an Amazon Prime member.
Finally, you can rend new releases in HD – and sometimes, you can get to watch new releases for free if you’ve racked up enough of the digital media credits you can get for opting out of two-day shipping or one-day shipping.
