There are three ways to apply for Florida food stamp and EBT Card benefits – online, in-person, and by mail.

Can I get Florida food stamps if I’m not a United States citizen?
You may be eligible if you are a “qualified” noncitizen. This includes Permanent Legal Residents (holders of a green card), refugees, asylees (an individual who has been granted asylum), and individuals granted withholding of deportation or removal.
In addition, Cuban/Haitian entrants, individuals paroled into the U.S. for a least one year by immigration authorities, conditional entrants (temporary green card).
Furthermore, certain victims of domestic violence, victims of human trafficking (T visa), and applicants for U visa/interim relief are also eligible for food stamp benefits in Florida.
When will I receive my Florida food stamp benefits?
In the state of Florida, SNAP benefits are distributed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).
In addition, there is no single date on which all SNAP benefits are issued.
Instead, benefits are sent out over a 28-day period every month, based on the 9th and 8th digits of your Florida case number (READ BACKWARDS), dropping the 10th digit.

What can I buy with Florida Food Stamps?
According to guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), here is the list of items you are allowed to buy with your Florida Food Stamps and EBT Card.

There are three ways to check your Florida EBT Card balance.
Option 1 – By Phone
- To check your FL EBT balance by phone, call the toll-free Florida EBT Customer Service phone number at 1-888-356-3281.
Option 2 – Online
- You can check your Florida EBT balance online via the EBTEdge website at www.ebtedge.com.
Option 3 – In-Person
- You can also check the balance by locating your last transaction receipt – your current EBT balance will be listed at the bottom.

How do I replace a Lost or Stolen Florida EBT Card?
If your Florida EBT card is lost or stolen, the first thing you want to do is contact Florida EBT card customer service to report the issue.
Upon contacting customer service, they will deactivate your EBT card. This means that you will no longer have access to your benefits until your replacement card arrives.

If you moved to a city in the same county you lived in before, update your address with the Florida DCF office right away.
This will ensure you will still get important notices about your Florida SNAP EBT benefits.
However, if you moved to a different county, contact the Florida DCF office in your new county right away and request a transfer of benefits.
The county can transfer your case and you should not have to reapply.

No, the state of Florida has ended the monthly Extra Food Stamps benefits program which started in March 2020.

State food stamps agencies were allowed to issue the allotment payments on a month-to-month basis to all SNAP households that normally receive less than the maximum benefit.
